WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have arrested a woman they say tried to rob six businesses in four hours, but managed to get cash from only one.
Troopers say on Saturday between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., the woman robbed a gas station in New Castle. Police say she also tried to rob three convenience stores, another gas station and a doughnut shop.
Authorities say in each crime, the woman put her hand in her clothing and implied she was armed. Most of the store clerks refused to give her money.
Troopers say when a New Castle County police officer tried to stop her, the woman tried to flee, but crashed her car and was arrested.
Thirty-two-year-old Melissa Hutchison of Newark is charged with robbery and numerous other offenses.
