UPDATE: DE Troopers Seek Suspect In Lewes Store Robbery

Posted: Updated:
LEWES, Del. – Troopers are investigating a robbery of the DOT Discount Cigarette store in Lewes that occurred around 6:55 PM on Saturday.

A white-male suspect reportedly entered the store and demanded money from the cash register. Police say that person then pulled out a knife and held it up to the employee while he removed the money, then fled on foot in a westerly direction.

According to Delaware State Police, the employee was not injured.

Store employee Ray Hayworth says the suspect reportedly grabbed a couple hundreds of dollars and ran off.

"They're going to catch him," said Hayworth. "I mean, he wasn't even smart. He wasn't even in a mask or hood or nothing. It's very obvious that this guy is not smart."

According to reports, the suspect is a white male between ages 23 and 30, around 6 feet tall, with an average build. He was allegedly wearing a dark baseball cap, gray hooded sweatshirt with the Philadelphia Eagles across the front, tan khaki pants, and dark shoes.

If anyone has any information on the incident, call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
