SALISBURY, Md. - Alice Katie DeCola, 91, of Salisbury, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Wicomico Nursing Home. Born in Bishop, MD, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Bunting and Sarah Mae Floyd Bunting. Alice attended Salisbury State College and then graduated from the Wilmington General Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and was a US Army veteran having served as an army nurse. She then worked for many years as a registered nurse for Peninsula Regional Medical Center and later for Salisbury Genesis. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved watching and was an enthusiastic fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Kathleen Ann Campbell of Salisbury, Jackie Alice DeCola of Alexandria, VA, Janet Mae Carver and her husband, Guy of Fairfax Station, VA and Patty Sue Shaddinger and her husband, Larry of Burke, VA; a son, John Francis DeCola, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Salisbury; and a grandson, Kevin John Campbell of Salisbury. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis DeCola, Sr., and a sister, Myrtle Hudson.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. George R. Patterson will officiate. Interment will follow at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her memory to Trinity U.M.C., 112 High St., Salisbury, MD 21801 and or the Wicomico Nursing Home, 900 Booth St., Salisbury, MD 21801.
