SALISBURY, Md. - Gordon J. Klacik 74 of Salisbury, died Monday, May 27, 2013 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in New Brunswick, NJ he was the son of the late Julius and Irene Klacik. Mr. Klacik was recognized for his service to the New Jersey Foundation for the Blind. He previously held officer positions with the Green Brook Planning Board and Republican Club, Somerset County, NJ Heart fund and the River Vale at Holiday Farm town House Association. He was a past director of the Green Brook Jaycees and the Green Brook Zoning Board of Adjustment and its Board of Health. He worked for 40 years for Union Carbide Corporation in Danbury, CT, as a staff analyst with the CHIPS Program, retiring in 1993. Mr. Klacik was in the River Vale, NJ Police Reserve. He was a 6 year U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He lived in Chincoteague, VA from 1977 to 2004, presently living Salisbury. While in Chincoteague he was a past president and director with the Oyster Bay I Homeowners Association. Mr. Klacik was a Docent with the Ward Museum.
He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Ann Klacik of Salisbury, brother, Rick Klacik of Salisbury and sister, Linda Romeo of South River, NJ; cousin, Veronica Raskey of Lake Como, NJ and Andrea Ristine of Pennsylvania; numerous godchildren, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, May 31, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Holloway Funeral Home. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 501 Snow Hill Rd, Salisbury, MD 21804.
