POKOMOKE CITY, Md. - Jimmy Lee Powell, 77, of Pocomoke City, died on Friday, May 24, 2013, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD following a valiant battle with cancer. He was born at home in Pocomoke City, MD on October 25, 1935. Mr. Powell graduated from Atlantic High School and attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He started his career at Maryland National Bank as a loan officer and retired as Regional Vice President. He was a devoted family man, and a lifelong student of classic films and cinematic history. He also had a keen interest in local Eastern Shore history and culture.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Linda Powell Cuttone and her husband Charles of Wallops Island, VA, his loving wife and companion Mary Lou Hilliard of Ocean Pines, MD, his brother, M. Carter Davis, Jr. of Onancock and many additional family members. He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Powell and his mother, Doris Fisher Powell Davis.
Family and friends may gather for a visitation, Thursday, May 30th from Noon – 1:00PM at the Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City. Interment will be the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery, where there will be a brief graveside service for family only.
