Salisbury Police Targeting Shop Lifting, Aims To Reduce Occurrences

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, MD. - Salisbury police are taking aim at a new crime: shoplifting.

They want to reduce the amount that's occurring in local commercial businesses, and one way they think will be effective is by releasing the names of those arrested each week.

They say it impacts everyone - retailers have to defer the cost of theft by raising prices, and states lose tax revenue when shop-lifters walk off without paying.

Nationwide, U.S. retailers report $35 million in stolen merchandise every day.

The following people were arrested for allegedly shop lifting this week:

Charles Carey - Delmar, Md.
Isaac Clark - East New Market, Md.
Daniel Ellis - Laurel, Del.
Laura Wiggins - Salisbury, Md.
Carla Hultzil Manzanilla - Salisbury, Md.
Marlene Lopez - Salisbury, Md.
Shawn Simon - Pocomoke, Md.
