Students Take On Math In Annual 25 Challenge

Posted: Updated:

WICOMICO CO., Md. - Math may be a dreaded subject for some kids - but today - it took center stage at the seventh annual Wicomico Math 24 Challenge -- and 80 county school students were all smiles.

From simple arithmetic to more complex negative numbers -- the challenge was to be the first to create an equation that totals 24.

Several students shared the same excitement for one part of the game.

"When you get to say the problem on the card," Hannah Kim said.

The county-wide tournament was sponsored by M & T Bank here in Salisbury, and they say getting kids excited about math is definitely a worthy cause.

Nearly 6,000 students from first to eighth grade had a chance to play the Math 24 Challenge in classrooms though out the school year.
