Biden Warns Of Oklahoma Tornado Related Scams

Posted: Updated:

WMDT 47 NEWS - Many of those affected by the Oklahoma tornadoes need our help, but not everyone can be trusted. Attorney General Beau Biden told Delawareans today to beware of criminals using the tragedy to get their own financial help, something scammers have a long track record of doing in the past.

He recommends to be especially aware of telephone salespeople and Internet postings, along with mail, email, and door-to-door solicitations, and to avoid donations to unknown individuals on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media sites.

If you feel that you've been scammed or received a suspicious solicitation, immediately call the Attorney General's toll-free Consumer Hotline at 1-800-220-5424 or e-mail consumer.protection@state.du.us.
