WICOMICO CO., Md. - On Thursday night, select students from across Wicomico County will get to show off their math skills.
It's the 7th annual Math 24 Tournament! Students in elementary and middle school compete against one another in the "24 game," where you are given a card and must add, subtract, multiply, and divide, the numbers written on it, to come out to equal 24. However, it's not just about getting the right answer, you must also be the first to hit your buzzer!
Principal of Westside Intermediate, Jason Miller, says "Students just amaze me at how well they know their facts, they amaze me at how quickly they can obtain the answers, it really takes a special skill to be able to play the game. But they do it and they do it very well."
The competition began after standardized testing in March, and contestants were narrowed down by the first week of May. The tournament will kick off at 6 PM at Salisbury University.
