NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Officials say a man has been injured in an explosion at a home in New Castle.
City police, firefighters and a state fire marshal responded to the home on Van Dyke Drive on Tuesday morning, but officials have not released details about the explosion.
Peter Small of New Castle County paramedics says the man was taken to an area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
A neighbor who helped the injured man tells WDEL-AM that the man had picked up something from another neighbor's trash.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that a robot sifted through a garbage can at the scene. There were initial reports that neighboring homes were evacuated, but residents were later allowed to move freely.
