Milford Crash Involving A Pedestrian Under Investigation

Posted: Updated:

MILFORD, Del. - A Milford teenager is recovering after reportedly being hit by a car on Thursday night. Delaware State Police say 18-year-old Brandon Williams was crossing from the median on Bay Road (US113/SR1) near Williamsburg Drive when he was hit by a Hyundai Accent, driven by Anthony Smith.

Williams was taken by EMS to Milford Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threaten injuries. Smith and his passenger were wearing seat belts, and were not injured.

Police have charged Williams with crossing at other than a crosswalk, and failure to carry a light on a public highway.

"Troopers remind pedestrians to use caution and safety when walking on or near roadways. If you must cross a roadway utilize appropriate cross walks and make sure to look left, then right, then left again before proceeding. When walking near a roadway always make yourself visible to drivers by wearing bright/light colored clothing and reflective materials. Pedestrians that are walking at night must carry a flashlight for added safety."
