Growler Law Signed In Delaware

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - Governor Jack Markell signed into law legislation which enables liquor stores to fill and sell growlers of craft beer.

Growlers are those glass or ceramic containers which hold half a gallon of beer. Until today, growlers could only be purchased at breweries and brewpubs in Delaware. The president of the DE Bewers Guild explains what this will mean for the First State, "It's gonna get that beer and that product out to more consumers and we're gonna keep the money in state."

Under the new bill, liquor stores can get a growler filler permit for $150 every two years. Those permits are expected to be issued starting within the next week.
