Strawberry Season Has Arrived On Delmarva

Posted: Updated:

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - It's officially strawberry season on the Eastern Shore. WMDT popped over to Emily's Produce in Cambridge, who tell us that their crops are doing well, despite the recent threat of unseasonable frost.

As a precaution, not only did their staff cover their strawberries for protection, they also covered several other produce, like blackberries and tomatoes, to spare any damage. Kelly Jackson, co-owner of Emily's Orchard, says "Monday night you know, we were setting the alarm at 2 in the morning to get up and go check and make sure everything looked okay and the govers were staying, so yes, sleepless nights for sure."

And those sleepless nights paid off, we're told the crops all remain on track, despite the chilly conditions.
