UPDATE: Body Found On Fowler Beach Shoreline

Posted: Updated:

MILTON, Del. - It seems like a calm and quiet Thursday on the Delaware Bay, but that was not the case this afternoon.

Delaware State Police say they found a body on Fowler Beach, however, they aren't releasing too much information at this time. It's a incident police aren't taking lightly.

Investigators are asking neighboring states who share the waters for any information on missing persons, including 24-year-old Josh Catlett who went missing on April 4th after his fishing boat capsized.

"Obviously, coming from the Delaware Bay and the currents, we work with New Jersey authorities about their missing persons and anyone who is missing from them as well as our missing persons," said Delaware State Police Corporal Gary Fournier.

Authorities transported the body to the Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy, but Cpl. Fournier says he couldn't speak on the cause of death or the person's identity.

"Until the Chief Medical Examiner performs their autopsy and is able to identify the deceased body, that way we can positively identify who that person is," said Cpl. Fournier.

Delaware State Police say it could take up to a week before they identify the body and the cause of death.
