UPDATE: Landlord Facing Attempted Murder Charges After Delmar Arson

DELMAR, Md. - The landlord of a Delmar home, that was reportedly intentionally set fire to on Monday morning, has been arrested on attempted murder charges.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office and Delmar Police, Andy Modeste, of Seaford, is accused of setting a fire inside of the crawlspace of the E. State Street home, just before 12:20 AM, while the four members of the tenant family slept inside.

Officials say they believe Modeste's motive, was an on-going dispute over the landlord/tenant lease agreement.

He has been charged with 1st degree arson, 1st degree malicious burning, 1st and 3rd degree burglary, malicious destruction of property over $500, along with 4 counts of attempted 1st degree murder, and 4 counts of reckless endangerment.

Modeste, who faces up to life in prison and more than $90,000 in fines, if convicted, is currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
