WICOMICO CO., MD - It's a big year for Wicomico County: a record eight Destination Imagination teams are headed to the Global Championships in Tennessee.

For school students in the program, it's the Olympics of problem-solving and creativity – and it's just about two and a half weeks away. This means teams who qualified for the honor are running out of time to raise money for the big trip.

But, like the real-world problems the teams solve throughout the school year, they've always found a solution.

"Sending seven teams, plus a private school is incredible," said Susan Bounds, Wicomico County School Board D.I. Coordinator. "That's truly amazing. There are few other counties that can boast the amount of teams they're sending."

It's the best of the best, competing and sharing the best problem solutions. From technology to public service, fund raising to distracted driving, these teams think outside the box and find the answers to real-world situations by working together and being flexible.

They are among several important skills kids learn outside of the classroom that Bounds says is immeasurable in the growth and development of students.

"I heard of the challenges and I thought it might be really fun because this is my first year," said Landon Stauffer, a member of the Daydreamerz.

"It's just the most positive experience I know of for these kids," said Bounds. "I believe in the program for that reason."

And if you believe in these kids you can help them get to the Global finals. Each team needs to raise $10,000 thousand dollars to cover transportation, and lodging and meals on the University of Tennessee Campus.

Below is information on sending a donation to a specific team. Please make checks payable to each school and note "Destination Imagination" in the check memo.

If you'd like to make a donation split evenly among public school teams, you can send checks to:
