Delaware Accepting Applications For Free AC Units

DELAWARE - With the temperature climbing, Delaware is helping people cool off, free of charge. 

Sussex and Kent County residents can apply for the 2013 Summer Cooling Program to receive a free window air conditioner.  The First State Community Action Agency is now accepting applications by appointment, Monday through Friday, at its Georgetown office at 308 N Railroad Ave.

Interested applicants must call 302-856-7761 to arrange an appointment. 

First State will accept walk-ins for individuals applying for a free AC on the following dates: 

Friday, May 17, 2013 & Friday, May 24, 2013: Sussex County residents may walk in between 9:00AM - 3:00PM to the Georgetown office to apply 

Tuesday, May 14, 2013: Kent County residents may visit the agency's Dover office located inside at the Blue Hen Corporate Center (655 S Bay Road, Suite 4J) between 9:00AM - 3:00PM to apply. 

Interested applicants must bring with them the following documents: 
1.Photo I.D. for anyone in your home 18 and over 
2.Social Security cards for everyone in your home 
3.Birth Certificate for anyone under 18 
4.Proof of income for everyone in home 
5.Current electric bill
