SU Vets, Family Of "Healing Henderson" Race For Family

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Alice Henderson, her children, friends and family raced Sunday  in memory of James Henderson, who passed away two weeks ago due to complications from brain cancer.

"I miss my marine," said Alice Henderson. "He's always with me, that's what [my son] told me the very day we said our goodbye to him.

"He said, 'Mommy, he's with us everywhere.'"

Salisbury University's Student Military Veterans Association hosted the 5K race to raise some much needed funds for the family, who are struggling financially.

"I'm opening the bills everyday and thinking wow. [I'm] trying to save our house and we'll figure it out," said Alice Henderson.

SMVA says they raised more than $1,600 from Sunday's race.

If you weren't able to make it to the run but would like to make a donation to the family, there's a fund set up at the Bank Of Delmarva called Healing Henderson.
