SALISBURY, Md. - Richard A. Phippin 86 of Salisbury, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Lola Phippin. Mr. Phippin was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. He worked in construction with J. Roland Dashiell in Salisbury and later went on his own. He and his wife, Miriam owned and operated Phippins Restaurant until 1989. Mr. Phippin also served as the building inspector with the town of Hebron for many years. He loved spending time in his shop doing woodworking and building furniture for many people.
He is survived by his son, George Phippin and wife, Kae of Hebron; half-sister, Josie Lane of Mardela Springs; grandchildren: Terry and Sherry Phippin of Salisbury, Mike Phippin and wife, Heather, Dalton Phippin and Julia Hudson all of Hebron, Rachel Hudson of Salisbury and Mike and Matt Mobray both of Hebron; great-grandsons: Cody, Conner and Chase Phippin all of Hebron; former daughter-in-law, Landis Phippin of Salisbury; and close friend, Kim Thornes of Salisbury. He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Phippin, son, Ronnie Phippin and daughter-in-law, Sharon Lee Phippin.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Holloway Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. James W. Riley will officiate.
