Kent Co. Awaits Dover Days Weekend

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - Delaware leaps back in time this weekend with a celebration of their heritage at the 80th annual Dover Days.

Last year, Kent County Tourism tells WMDT they had 40,000 people come out to Legislative Mall, which is by far their largest crowd ever. To try and top things off this year, they brought in some new events including an art competition in addition to the weekend's parade and concerts.

"The purpose of tourism is to generate overnight visitation," said Lorraine Dion, Kent County Tourism public relations director. "A lot of the things we do is for the residents who live in Dover because they should know about their history and their heritage and crafts from forgotten times."

The Delaware Symphony Orchestra is among the many events happening this weekend.  To see a full list, click here.
