OCEAN CITY, Md. - Beach replenishment efforts in Ocean City, won't begin until the end of the summer. WMDT spoke with beach town's Engineering Department, who tells us that it is too late in the year to build up the beaches for the upcoming summer season.
They do however have a plan once the fall rolls around. The "corps of engineers," who handles the project, has received funding to do storm repair and the regularly scheduled replenishment, which will begin about 6 months earlier, so there are not two projects in one year.
There is a so called "pre-bid" meting to meet with potential contractors later this month. A total of 900,000 cubic yards will be worked on.
