DE Court Shooter's Son Leaves State Prison

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A man whose father killed two people at a Delaware courthouse before taking his own life has been transferred from a state prison to begin serving a six-month federal sentence.

Forty-six-year-old David Matusiewicz was transferred from a Wilmington prison Thursday. Matusiewicz is being transferred to a prison in another state, but Department of Correction officials had no details.

A federal judge who sentenced Matusiewicz on Tuesday indicated he likely would be sent to a federal prison in Texas.

Matusiewicz pleaded guilty in 2009 to fraud and kidnapping after taking his three daughters to Central America in 2007. He was released from prison last year.

Matusiewicz was arrested Feb. 11 and charged with violating terms of his probation after his father killed Matusiewicz's ex-wife and a friend at the Wilmington courthouse.
