Wall Street Cupcake Crash

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Cupcake lovers, this one is for you. Wall street has declared a crash on the cupcake industry! For example, Crumbs Bake Shop, which makes more than fifty varieties of gourmet cupcakes, had their stock value drop from 13-30 in 2011 to only a $1.29!

But a local bakery in Salisbury tells WMDT that here on the Eastern Shore, we shouldn't worry about the business leaving anytime soon. Cake Art's owner, Susan Patt, says "we haven't noticed any change in our business based on what's happening around the country. We feel we are kind of behind the times so we will probably notice the difference in the next few years." Cake Art is relatively new, having been in business for 3 years.

The Wall Street Journal says an easy-to-enter market led to the over saturation of cupcake bakeries across the nation, not just in Manhattan.
