Mayor's Office Proposes New Dept. For Downtown Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. - Monday night, the 1st reading for Mayor Jim Ireton's 2014 budget was approved, which led to a series of work sessions Tuesday.

Council members heard presentations from a number of community groups including the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council, the Wicomico Creek-watchers and the Salisbury Neighborhood housing service.

But Council President Jake Day tells WMDT, a huge proposal also came out of Tuesday's meetings for a new department which would focus on the revitalization of Downtown Salisbury. If approved, staffing for the new department would cost $85,000.
