Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - A wanted Dover woman has been taken into custody by police, and is now behind bars. Delaware State Police say Shirley Smith was wanted after she fled from the hospital without getting medical treatment, after being taken into custody on April 17th during a domestic disturbance.

DSP caught up with Smith in the Dover Downs parking lot on Monday afternoon, where Troopers apparently saw her get into a vehicle and drive off. Troopers then stopped that vehicle, but Smith reportedly refused to get out, so officers had to drag her from the vehicle, while she allegedly tried to kicked them.

Smith was charged with offensive touching of another with saliva, criminal impersonation, resisting arrest, 3rd degree escape, offensive touching, and resisting arrest with force or violence. She was also arraigned on several capiases. She is now being held at Baylor Women's Correctional Institute on $7,100.
