Bennett Middle School Groundbreaking

FRUITLAND, Md. - Plans finally came to fruition for a new Bennett Middle School today.
School representatives and elected officials broke ground at the site of the new facility, after 9 years in the making.

The building will take up nearly 160,000 square ft. on 36 acres, moving from Salisbury to South Division Street in Fruitland. New features will include geo-thermal H-VAC, life safety measures and energy sufficient lighting and controls.

"It was very long awaited, we were worried at some points that this day was not going to happen but our community banded together, saw the importance of it, saw the importance of education for our future and we're here today," says JMBMS Principal Liza Hastings.

Construction is expected to be complete by August 2015.
