SALISBURY, Md. - Hilda Smith, 95 of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Wicomico County on January 19, 1918, she was the daughter of Elijah and Eva Phippin. She was a day-care mother for more than 40 years. Hilda was devoted to her family and her church. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Salisbury, which later became Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. For the past several years she attended Lighthouse Wesleyan Church in Fruitland. She loved her home and gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Elois Fisher; grandsons: Randy, Rob and Mike Fisher; one great-granddaughter, Kerri Fisher; one great-great-granddaughter, Katelynn Fisher and also her former son-in-law, Robert Fisher all of Princess Anne. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Mack Smith; 2 infant sons; her grandson, Mark Fisher, brothers: Francis, Vaughn, Melvin and Richard Phippin and one sister, Mar Neil Parsons.
A funeral service will be held Monday, April 22, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Holloway Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
