SALISBURY, Md. - Raymond Earl Bridge, 97 of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born May 20, 1915 in New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Austin Y. and Mary B. Bridge. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mirriam E. Bridge. As reported in "The Salisburian, A City Magazine" and published during the summer of 1980, he will be remembered as the "Paul Bunyon" of the Eastern Shore.
He is survived by a brother, John Bridge and wife, Patsy of Delmar; three sons and their wives: Ronald K. & Nancy C. Bridge, Glynn R. & Gladys J. Bridge all of Salisbury and William D. & Irene Bridge of Perth, Australia; daughter, Dorene S. Rice of Parsonsburg; grandchildren: Julie B. Griffith, Michael Bridge, Larry Bridge and wife, Sherri all of Salisbury, Sharon Bisson and husband, Steve of Towson, Richard Rice and wife, Sandy of Delmar, MD, Dawn Price of Cambridge, Glynda Callis of Delmar and Gloria Dosch of Hebron; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Bridge, grandson, Scott Rice and son-in-law, David Rice.
He was cared for during the last thirteen years of his life by his devoted caregiver, Mary Ellen Hill. He will be greatly missed by his three cats: Whiskers, Muffin and Cheeto.
A funeral service will be held Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11:00 am at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
