Sandy Recovery Funds Headed To Somerset County

Posted: Updated:

SOMERSET CO., Md. - Nearly six months after Superstorm Sandy ripped through the area, officials say all of an $8.6 million federal recovery grant will go to Somerset County.

Tuesday evening, the Community Development Block Grant Program discussed how the grant dollars will be distributed.  While the money should be available this July, we're told, if you live in low-lying areas of Somerset County, like Smith Island, you may not qualify for funding.

For residents who missed Tuesday's meeting, there will be another one at the county commissioners office next week.

The exact date has not yet been set.
