Local Authorities Amp Up Security For Upcoming Events

Posted: Updated:

DELMARVA - Officials want you to know they will continue to do everything they can to ensure the safety of the public.

With big events like the "Race for The Cure" and "Spring Fest" coming to Ocean City, the police department says they will continue to follow protocol and do everything in their power to protect public safety.

In Salisbury, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office tells WMDT they are amping up security for the annual "Pork in the Park" festival.

"We'll have an increased presence in explosive-sniffing canines. We'll also have an eye in the sky, we have a helicopter that will be here for the event this year. And anybody bringing any bad or any container into this event this year, for the first time will find themselves being searched. We have to search the bags and the containers to ensure the public safety of everyone in attendance," Sheriff Mike Lewis said.

We're told there will also be an increased EMS and ambulance presence.
