Berlin Gymnast, Cade Solito Twisting His Way To Junior Olympics

Posted: Updated:

BERLIN, Md. - A star athlete is training for gold, and twisting his way to the top.

"He's the first gymnast ever from our Twisters Gymnastics to make it to a national meet," said Head Coach for boys gymnastics, Fran Fennell.

Remember his name, because 12-year-old Cade Solito could be the next Teen Olympian.

"I've been in the gym since I was two, I started actually competing in the regular meets, competitions when I was six years old," said Cade.

The Berlin gymnast set the bar high, recently ranking sixth in the region. In May, Cade and his coach Fran will be in Portland, Oregon competing for a national title.

"Going to the Junior Olympic National Championship is a big achievement for me so I want to train hard so I can rank pretty well there," said Cade. @

Cade's most difficult routine is on the pommel horse, but his strength training starts on the mat. @

"He does a 45 minute warm up that's like 90 v-ups, 90 sit ups, and 90 pushups," said Coach Fran.

"You have to be really dedicated to this sport. This is everyday for me, five hours, five days a week," he explained.

Coach says he's a straight A student with big dreams. Cade's long term goal is Olympic gold.

"I just want to give it all I have to do the best I can."

Cade will compete against hundreds of gymnasts on May 3rd. He was also invited by the White House, to come to D.C. for a summer program.
