Guerrero Prepares For Salisbury Slugfest

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Boxing fans listen up!  The Salisbury Slugfest jabs into town Friday, April 12th.

WMDT caught up with local boxer Alex Guerrero to see how he's getting ready for the big fight.  We also spoke to Hal Chernoff at Main Street Gym in Salisbury to find out why he feels it's important to bring professional boxing to the area.  Despite being scheduled to go against a few different boxers, Guerrero says he hasn't changed up his training.

"Like 'hey' you train for anyone who comes. I never knew that he was the one, I had like, 3 guys that were supposed to be fighting me, but they all backed off. So, this one came out of nowhere," says Guerrero.

Hal Chernoff is excited to bring another professional boxing match back to Salisbury, saying "I love the idea that a local boxer that I work with gets to fight in his home town.  The other thing is, I've got so many young boxers in Main Street gym, this gives them a chance to see what can happen."

The fight takes place at the Wicomico Youth and Civics Center.  Doors open at 6:30pm, and the fight kicks off at 8pm.

Tickets range from $20 to $90.  Tables of 10 are also available for $500 each.
