Del. 8th Grader Headed To National Geographic Bee

MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) - An eighth grader who attends The Independence School in Newark will represent Delaware at the National Geographic Bee in Washington.

Kevin Orzada beat out about 60 students from around the state during a state geography bee Friday at the Alfred G. Waters Middle School in Middletown. Orzada had taken third place at last year's competition.

The 25th annual National Geographic Bee will be held May 20 through 22 in Washington. The final round is hosted by Jeopardy's Alex Trebek. First prize in the national competition is a $25,000 college scholarship and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
