SALISBURY, Md. - Renown young authors come to Salisbury looking to help out the environment through their words and drawings.

The 9th Annual Read Green Children's and Young Adult Literature Festival at kicks off at Salisbury University. WMDT was at the event and caught up with coordinators and a keynote speaker, who wrote Olivia's Birds: Saving the Gulf, which is her take on birds impacted by the 2010 Gulf Coast oil spill.

"The novels and the nonfiction books can be really inspiring for kids because they demonstrate both how children can be environmental stewards," said Ernie Bond, Chair of Salisbury University Teacher Education Department.

"If I was a little kid, I would really love to know that there are other kids out there who want to make a difference," said 14-year-old author Olivia Bouler.

Bouler will be visiting Beaver Run Elementary tomorrow from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM and from 1:30 PM to 2:40 PM.

Also there will be a presentation of the national Green Earth Book Awards and art exhibit opening tomorrow at 5:00 PM at the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art.
