POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Ethel Beauchamp Gaddy, 84, of Westover, Maryland, died on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson, Maryland. Born August 4, 1928 in Westover, she was the daughter of the late George Beauchamp and the late Ethel White Beauchamp. Ethel was a 1944 graduate of Marion High School and a 1948 graduate of what was then the State Teachers College of Salisbury, with a B.S. in education. Following retirement from Baltimore and Anne Arundel county schools with 32 years of service as a teacher and in administration, she worked at Braniff, doing travel agent seminars and also for the Salisbury Kennel Club. Although she had a special love for children and education, her champion Welsh Terriers, were the loves of her life. Other hobbies included photography, hiking, gardening, the ocean, birding and corresponding with pen pals. She was a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, the Salisbury Kennel Club, the Pocomoke Garden Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Ethel is survived by several cousins and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Anna Beauchamp.
A graveside funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 5757 Coventry Parish Road, Westover, MD 21871. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or to Holly Grove Christian School, 7317 Mennonite Church Road, Westover, MD 21871.
