Delaware Guard Unit Gains New Aircraft In 2014

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware's only Air National Guard flying unit will add an additional aircraft to its operation next year.

Delaware's 166th Airlift Wing said Wednesday that it's slated to gain an additional C-130 Hercules aircraft. The addition of the military transport aircraft will bring the unit's total assigned aircraft to nine.

The unit says the aircraft will be a backup but will enhance its resources for airlifts and airdrops.

About 1,100 airmen are assigned to the unit based at New Castle Air National Guard Base. About 400 of the airmen are full-time.
