Councilwoman Shanie Shields Reacts To Win

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. -- WMDT caught up with Councilwoman Shanie Shields, winner of Tuesday's District One election. She tells us she's thrilled there was such a high turnout from city voters.

Also she has big plans when it comes to Downtown Revitalization, and would like to move city hall to the downtown plaza to increase foot traffic.

"I'd like to see a jazz club here, I'd like to see something that people my age would want to come to. I'd like to see a Mom and Pop restaurant," she says.

Shields says she's optimistic that the council and the mayor can come together to better the city as a whole.

"We have the best intentions, I think the mayor and the council has the best intension's because we love all of Salisbury."

"I would like to meet with Cynthia and April to discuss their concerns and maybe we can work together to better district one," she adds.

Shields defeated her opponents April Jackson and Cynthia Polk by 48 percent.
