Salisbury Man Charged With Attempted Robbery

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - A Salisbury man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery attempt. Salisbury Police says that around 7:00 PM on Tuesday, 39-year-old Shane Oneil Banks walked into the Express Mart on N. Salisbury Boulevard with his hand in his jacket pocket.

According to the report, Banks made gestures at the clerk, suggesting that he had a weapon and demanded money. In turn, Police say the clerk grabbed a metal pipe from behind the counter, and chased Banks from the store. No one was injured, and no money was stolen during the robbery.

Surveillance footage was reviewed by officers, who then canvassed the area. Banks was reportedly located about an hour later near Baker Street and Naylor Street. During the arrest, Police say they found a smoking device, with suspected cocaine inside. Banks was charged with attempted armed robbery, attempted robbery, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released to the custody of central booking.
