SALISBURY, Md. - It's been a long four years for Brooke Mulford and her mother Amy. First the rigorous search for a cure for neuroblastoma, then a clinical trial breakthrough, and now a relapse followed by recent scans showing no signs of improvement.

"She's been getting bad headaches from it. They're pretty excruciating for her. They make her vomit and it's pretty debilitating for her when it happens," said Amy.

Brooke's relapse also comes with a ticking clock. At just 8-years-old, she's faced with a less than five percent rate of survival, but she's living each day to the fullest.

"She's just a bundle of energy still. She doesn't let too much keep her down," said her mom.

Amy says she has the community to thank for that.

"We went to this fundraiser thing and they actually had something they were auctioning off for me for someone to take me on a cruise," said Brooke.

"Everyday that we're in this town, walking around, somebody does something nice for us, it blows my mind," said Amy.

When they're not in Salisbury, they're at the Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia, where Amy says some of the best doctors in the country are doing everything they can. "Right now there's no good options out there. There's nothing out there proven to help anyone."

Raising funds for research is their only hope for a cure, which is exactly what Tuesday's Shorebirds verses Seagulls game will help with. Brooke is getting ready to fire up the first pitch, and showed WMDT her skills.

"One right back to the pitcher," said Brooke.

Brooke is excited to kickoff the exhibition game at Perdue Stadium in Salisbury. The Delmarva Shorebirds take on the Salisbury Seagulls Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. There will be a silent and Chinese auction, and the proceeds from the game go to the "Brooke Mulford Foundation."

For just $5 a ticket, you could help support pediatric cancer research, and help Brooke find a cure.
