Posted: Updated:

EASTON, Md. - Authorities have confirmed a trooper involved accident at Route 50 and Dutchmans Lane in Easton.

We're told the collision took place just before 3:00 PM this afternoon. A preliminary investigation apparently shows that Detective Sergeant Kevin Beauchamp, who is assigned to the La Plata Barrack, was driving eastbound on Route 50, when Gail Mills of Easton, made a left turn in front of his approaching vehicle.

Both were air lifted, and are now at shock trauma in Baltimore. Mills in serious condition and Beauchamp, in fair condition. The accident is under investigation. Police say that no one else was involved in the crash, as both drivers were the only occupants of their cars.

Route 50 was shut down for the investigation. It was still closed as of 4:50 PM, but will re-open once the investigation wraps up. We'll bring you the latest as it comes into our newsroom, stay tuned to WMDT and WMDT.com
