PARSONSBURG, Md. - Benard W. Olson, 71 of Parsonsburg departed this life on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Irving Thomas Johnson and Birdie Ella Johnson. Mr. Olson was a member of East Side Men's Club. He was a painter and co-owner of Delmarva Painting along with co-owner, Ernie Myers. He later went in business for himself. He retired in 2007. He loved hunting, fishing, all types of music, playing the guitar and he enjoyed taking pictures. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He truly loved his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Gail Olson of Parsonsburg; his children: Jeanina Phillips of Eden, Jamie S. Smith of Delmar, Jonathan Dean Olson of Hagerstown, Andrew James Olson of Delmar, Melissa Dawn Olson of Salisbury, Walter Clark Collins of Frederick and Jeffery Lee Cox of Salisbury; brother, Steve Olson Jr. and wife, Nancy of Salisbury; sister, Debbie Core of Delmar; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Zedikiah Olson.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 am at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
