Laurel Church Hosting First Memorial 5K In Member's Memory

Posted: Updated:

LAUREL, Del. - Two months after a member died, a local church races to help pay his medical bills.

Central Worship Center church members say Robert Cameron passed away from injuries he sustained during volunteer work. But since he spent nearly a month in the hospital, his wife and five children now have to pay back the medical bills. To help out, members are putting together Robert Cameron Memorial 5K Run/Walk to reduce as much expense as possible.

"[Robert] was always the first person to sign up for anything and to help anybody," said Suzanne Barger, Robert Cameron Memorial 5K organizer. "He's not here anymore, so we need to live out the serving part and serving back and helping with our church family."

The race is on April 13th and starts at 9 AM at Central Worship Center. If interested, you must register prior to April 7th. You can register online or the day of the race.

For more information or if you are interested in becoming a sponsor, you can contact Suzanne Barger at 704-267-9966.
