Del. Trooper Strikes, Kills Pedestrian On Road

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a marked police cruiser has struck and killed a pedestrian along Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington.

Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack says the incident was reported about 4 a.m. near Farrand Drive.  A male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shavack says the state trooper was not injured. The names of the victim and the trooper were not immediately released.

The incident shut down the road for more than three hours, but it has since reopened.
