VA Tourist Resort Bracing For Local Spring Break

Posted: Updated:

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Early visitors to Virginia Beach may notice extra law enforcement officers along the Oceanfront.

Starting Friday, extra police and sheriff's deputies will be patrolling as the city's public schools take their spring break. It runs through April 7.

While the colder weather will likely keep some students away from the boardwalk, officials say they will be enforcing the resort city's curfew. It prohibits anyone under 18 from being out in public without a guardian between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Violators will be hauled to the Police Department's 2nd precinct until a parent or guardian picks them up.
