After On-Field Collapse, Salisbury Baseball Player Recovering

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University baseball officials say that freshman pitcher Zach Lucas has made close to full recovery and is going back to classes.

We asked school officials if the team expects the pitcher back this season.

"It's up to the doctor but we hope to see him next year," said athletic trainer Bryan White. "The good thing is Zach comes out to practice pretty often and he comes to all the games so, even though he's not physically out there on the field, he's still with the guys."

On March 28th, we're told Lucas went back to the hospital for surgery.

"Well it looks like I'm getting surgery again tomorrow," said Lucas via Twitter.

But the next day on Twitter, a positive message from Lucas as he tweeted, "Yeah [the surgery] just finished up, it went well."
