A Sweet "Peep Show" For A Cause

Posted: Updated:

SELBYVILLE, Del. - Spring is finally here and Easter is just a few days away, which means the season's sweetest candy is in high demand.

"I love peeps, they're so delicious," Mandy Seyfert laughed.

She was at the Brandywine Senior Living Center Thursday, where hundreds of them were on display for the center's first "Peep Show."

Local companies built intricate displays made of the iconic chicks and rabbits, and residents voted on their favorites by dropping a coin in the piggy banks.

The display with the heaviest bank wins a grand prize gift basket.

"Once the idea got out there and people understood what we meant by peep show, it really started spread," said Eilleen Bennett, Director Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island. "There's been a lot of enthusiasm."

The event is a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association. All of the money raised - including the entry fees and the change in the banks used for voting - will go to Brandywine's fundraising team for the annual Walk to End Alzhiemers.
