Delmarva Shorebirds Take On Salisbury Seagulls, To Benefit Brooke Mulford

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Now to an opportunity, not only to see two of our best baseball teams duke it out, but also to see little Brooke Mulford in action! Both teams are taking over Perdue Stadium, looking to score a home run for the Brooke Mulford Foundation.

We're days away from the big exhibition game. The Delmarva Shorebirds face off against the Salisbury Seagulls, but this one is like no other. The boys in both dugouts are teaming up to knock cancer out of the park.

"We're donating all of the proceeds to Brooke Mulford and her foundation, and along with that we're actually going to be doing a Chinese gift auction and a silent auction," said Vice President of Salisbury University's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), who has helped organize this event.

8-year-old Brooke Mulford is expected to take the mound, to throw out the first pitch. Her story has captured the hearts of many on Delmarva. You'll recall, she's been battling Neuroblastoma and recently relapsed.

"This girl has gone through a lot, certainly at a young age. It will certainly mean a lot, not only to this baseball team and the Shorebirds, but also to the community and bring them closer together," said Salisbury Seagulls' first baseman, Quinn Griffith.

SAAC has already scored hundreds in donations, hoping to raise thousands for Brooke's Foundation.

"I think the big money is going to come from the actual game, and when people come out and see it," said Gillies.

"If we can get the most fan support out there, we're likely to perform better for the fans," said Griffith.

The game starts at 7:05 p.m. this Tuesday April 2nd at the Perdue Stadium. Tickets are $5. They're still available and can be purchased at the gate.
