Posted: Updated:

BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland State Police say they inspected hundreds of commercial vehicles as part of a special initiative in Baltimore.

State Police say the initiative began Wednesday and is continuing on Thursday. Of the 291 commercial vehicles inspected on Wednesday, 60 were taken out of service for equipment violations, including five that were hauling hazardous materials. State Police say 11 drivers were also taken off the road for qualification violations or violating regulations on how many hours they can spend on the road.

Troopers also issued 86 citations and 196 warnings.
