SALISBURY, Md. - Tuesday night candidates for Salisbury Mayor and City Council had their last chance to publicly present their ideas to the city.
With the debate sponsored by the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, bringing new businesses and developing local talent was a major focus. Candidates for District 1, Incumbent Shanie Shields, Cynthia Polk, and April Jackson agree Salisbury should continue to become business friendly.
Jackson would like to see big and small businesses, as well as more tourism and higher wage jobs in Salisbury. Shields, would like to see a river walk in District 1. Cynthia Polk, would like to see an enterprise zone developed in the district, giving small business a 10 year tax property break, and also a state income tax credit.
