PARSONSBURG, Md. - Deborah Jean Barton, 43, of Parsonsburg, walked thru the gates of Heaven on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Born in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of Beverly Purcell Cook of Parsonsburg and the late Gene A. Cook, Sr.. Debbie attended Laurel Wesleyan Church and enjoyed karaoke and watching football, especially the Washington Redskins. She was a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews and she loved to shop and spend money.
She is survived by a daughter, Lily Rose McCann of Parsonsburg; 2 sisters, Jeanette L. Barton of Salisbury and Doris Marie Cook of Parsonsburg; a brother, Gene A. Cook, Jr. of Fruitland; a grandmother, Alverta L. Purcell of Lincoln, DE; a mother in law, Ruth Mae McCann of Salisbury; her fiancée, Thomas A. McCann, Jr. of Parsonsburg; and many special close friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kimberly A. Barton and her biological father, George N. Barton.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Laurel Wesleyan Church, 30186 Seaford Road, Laurel, DE 19956 with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury with Rev. Ken Deusa officiating. Contributions may be made in her memory to Laurel Wesleyan Church.
